How we handle information collected through this website, which outside services are involved, and how to reach a person with a question. Effective 14 August 2026.
What this policy covers, and what it does not
This policy covers www.lagunabeachcounseling.com, the public website of Laguna Beach Counseling. It explains what the site collects, who else is involved in running it, and what your choices are.
This is not our Notice of Privacy Practices. Laguna Beach Counseling is a health care provider, and the protected health information we hold about clients is governed by HIPAA and by a separate Notice of Privacy Practices that we provide directly to clients. That notice, not this page, is the document that describes your rights in your clinical record. If you are a client and want a copy, ask us and we will send one.
The two are kept apart on purpose. This website is built so that protected health information does not pass through it: there is no client portal, no intake form, no payment processing, and no session notes anywhere on this site.
Information we collect
Information you choose to give us. If you call or email using the details on this site, we receive whatever you choose to tell us. Please keep sensitive health details out of email and voicemail, since neither is a secure channel. A brief message asking us to call you back is safer, and we can talk properly from there.
Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our host and content network record standard technical information when a page loads, including IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the date and time. This is used to serve the site, keep it secure, and diagnose faults.
Cookies. This site sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser. Some of the outside services listed below may set their own cookies when you interact with them, and the booking scheduler in particular does.
Third parties
Outside services involved in running this site
These are the only external services this website loads. Each has its own privacy policy, which governs what it does with what it receives.
- Cloudflare Hosts and delivers the site. Cloudflare processes standard server request logs, including IP addresses, to serve pages and protect against abuse.
- Bunny CDN Delivers our photographs and brand assets from cdn.circulationstudio.com. It receives the request information needed to send an image to your browser.
- Google Fonts Supplies the two typefaces used across the site. Loading a font sends a request to Google servers, which includes your IP address. No cookie is set by this.
- Calendly Powers the booking scheduler embedded on the home, contact, and get started pages. If you book a call, you give Calendly your name, email, and phone number, plus anything else you type into its fields. Please keep clinical detail out of that form; we will cover it on the call. Calendly sets its own cookies.
- YouTube Hosts the introduction video on the home page. We embed it through youtube-nocookie.com and load it only as you scroll to it, so YouTube sets no cookie unless you press play.
The social media and directory links in our footer, including Google, Yelp, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Psychology Today, are ordinary links. They send nothing to those companies unless you click them, at which point that company's own policy applies.
Analytics and advertising
This site currently runs no analytics and no advertising or remarketing tags. There is no Google Analytics, no Google Ads tag, and no tag manager on any page. If that changes, we will update this policy in the same change and revise the effective date at the top.
Most browsers offer a Do Not Track setting. There is no agreed standard for how sites should respond to it, so we do not currently change our behaviour based on that signal, and we say so rather than implying otherwise.
How we use information, and who we share it with
We use what we receive to respond to enquiries, arrange and provide care, run and secure the website, and meet our professional and legal obligations. That is the whole list.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade it. We share it only with the service providers listed above, in the narrow ways described, or where the law requires disclosure. Clinical information is subject to the separate confidentiality and HIPAA rules described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, including the limited situations where a therapist is legally required to disclose.
Your choices
You can browse this site without giving us anything. You can decline cookies through your browser settings, though the booking scheduler may not work properly if you block its cookies, in which case please call us and we will book the time for you.
If you are a California resident, state privacy law gives you rights to know what personal information a business holds about you, to request deletion, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for asking. Information held in your clinical record is handled under HIPAA and California health confidentiality law rather than under those provisions. To make a request either way, contact us using the details below and we will respond.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection, and we keep the software behind it current. No website can promise perfect security, and we are not going to claim otherwise. What we can tell you is that this site is deliberately built to hold as little as possible: no client portal, no stored records, no payment details.
Children
We provide therapy to children and teenagers, and those arrangements are made by a parent or guardian in person or by phone, never through this website. This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child through it. If you believe a child has sent us information through the site, please contact us and we will delete it.
Other sites we link to
This site links to outside pages, including research articles, crisis resources, and our own profiles on directories. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Their policies apply once you leave here.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when what the site does changes, and we revise the effective date at the top when we do. This version is effective 14 August 2026.
