Children and teens
Play-based work for younger kids, and a low-pressure room for teenagers who have decided in advance how much they plan to say. Both tend to talk more when nobody is waiting for them to perform.
Meet the team
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, working in English and Farsi, with children, teens, adults, and couples. In Laguna Beach, or by video anywhere in California.
Rozhin Pishvaiy, who everyone calls Rozy, works with people at most of the ages a practice sees: children who would rather play than explain themselves, teenagers deciding how much to say, adults in the middle of a transition, and couples trying to get unstuck. She holds an M.A. in Marital and Family Therapy from Alliant International University and sees clients under Kay Wenger's supervision.
What do people tend to notice first? That she is easy to be around. There is no clinical distance to get past, no sense that you are being assessed while you talk. She works alongside people rather than above them, which sounds like a small thing until you have sat in a room where it was not true.
How she works
You are the expert on your own life.
Rozy's starting assumption is that you already know a great deal about your own situation, and that the useful work is figuring it out together rather than having it explained to you. She asks a lot of questions, and she means them.
Her room is deliberately free of masks and pressure. You do not have to arrive composed, or with the right words ready, or with a version of yourself that seems easier to help. Whatever you actually brought is what you get to work with.

Her signature work
Rozy delivers the practice's nature-based play therapy model for children, built on the Laguna sand. Kids who go quiet in an office tend to talk while their hands are busy, and a castle turns out to be the right size for a child's hardest feelings.
Sand Castle TherapyWhat she works with
A range rather than a niche, which is what you want in someone seeing a whole family across different ages.
Who she sees
Play-based work for younger kids, and a low-pressure room for teenagers who have decided in advance how much they plan to say. Both tend to talk more when nobody is waiting for them to perform.
Anxiety, self-esteem, boundaries, and the transitions that rearrange a life. Often first-generation adults carrying expectations from more than one direction at once.
Two people stuck in the same loop, including couples navigating differences in culture, language, or family expectation alongside everything else.
Rozy is a Farsi-speaking therapist, and she works in either language, or in the mix of both that a lot of bilingual families actually speak at home. If you have ever tried to describe grief, shame, or a family obligation in your second language, you know that something goes missing in the translation. It is tiring, and it puts a layer of glass between you and the person listening.
She also brings particular experience with Persian and Middle Eastern clients, and more broadly with people from multicultural and immigrant backgrounds. That matters beyond vocabulary. It means not having to explain why a decision that looks straightforward from the outside carries the weight of a whole family, or why honoring your parents and living your own life can feel like a choice you are not willing to make.
Prefer to keep sessions in English? That is completely fine, and common. The point is that the option is there, and that the cultural context does not need translating either way.
